What we collect

Information you give us

When you send an enquiry through the contact form we collect your name, email address, telephone number, company name, the type of enquiry and whatever you write in the message. You choose what to send, but we cannot answer an enquiry without a way to reply to it.

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It records your IP address, an approximate location derived from it, your browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you spend on them and the site or search that sent you here. We use this in aggregate and do not try to identify individual visitors from it.

The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which analyses how you interact with the page to tell a person apart from an automated script. This sends device and usage data to Google.

Why we collect it

POPIA requires a lawful basis for processing personal information. Ours are set out here.

Enquiry details are processed to answer your enquiry, prepare a quotation and, where it leads to work, to perform the resulting contract. That is processing necessary to conclude or perform a contract with you, and it is also our legitimate interest in running the business.

Analytics and reCAPTCHA data are processed in our legitimate interest in understanding how the site performs and in keeping the contact form from being abused by spam.

We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to, and we do not sell them.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies beginning with _ga to tell one visitor from another and to work out whether a visit is new or a return. reCAPTCHA sets cookies of its own for the same anti-abuse purpose.

You can block or delete these in your browser settings without breaking the site. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics entirely, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

The site sets no advertising cookies of its own.

Who we share it with

Google processes analytics and reCAPTCHA data on our behalf. Our hosting provider stores the website and handles the mail that the enquiry form generates. We may pass your details to a supplier or manufacturer where that is necessary to answer a technical question or price an order, and we will tell you when that happens.

Beyond that we share nothing, and we do not sell personal information to anyone.

Information sent outside South Africa

Google processes analytics and reCAPTCHA data on servers outside South Africa. Section 72 of POPIA permits this where the recipient is subject to laws or binding agreements providing an adequate level of protection. Google contracts on standard data protection terms intended to meet that requirement.

If you would rather this did not happen, blocking cookies or using the Analytics opt-out add-on prevents it.

How long we keep it

Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as we have an active relationship with you, and then for a further period where tax, company or contract law requires us to keep records. Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months from your last visit and is then deleted automatically.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and the server is encrypted. The enquiry form validates and filters what is submitted, applies rate limiting and uses reCAPTCHA to block automated abuse.

No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee the security of information while it is moving across networks we do not control.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy. You may ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep. You may object to processing that relies on our legitimate interest, and you may withdraw consent where you gave it.

To exercise any of these, email info@ampowersolutions.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable period and may need to confirm who you are first.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa). Their current contact details are published at inforegulator.org.za.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do with personal information changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Material changes are reflected here rather than notified individually.
